If Homeowners Don’t Have Flood Insurance, Why Should They Use a Professional Restoration Company?

Floodwaters bring hazards. Don't DIY. SERVPRO has the tools to safely restore your home.

SERVPRO has the Equipment and Manpower for Complete Flood Damage Restoration in Nampa

Floodwaters can inundate a home in minutes, bringing water, debris, and toxic chemicals/materials into your Nampa home. Many homeowners do not have flood insurance due to the expense, or insurance coverage is not offered. When a flood occurs, many try to do the cleanup themselves to save money. However, there can be severe impacts taking this approach.

SERVPRO has been providing flood damage recovery and restoration in the Nampa area since 2009. We have seen the results and the damage caused by floods. We bring a team of experts and high capacity equipment to extract the water, remove damaged materials, and disinfect all affected areas. Unsalvageable materials are removed, and anything that can be salvaged is saved. Our equipment is set up in specific patterns to efficiently remove humidity and dry your home, including difficult to reach areas.

How Long Does it Take to Dry My Home?

The amount of damage and flooding can vary a great deal. The size and the scope of the damages, how long the water was in place, and the kind of building materials will determine how long it takes to dry your home. Shop vacs and room fans cannot correctly dry materials and structure before mold begins to set in.

SERVPRO utilizes high volume air movers and dehumidifiers to dry the affected area properly. A home or office can be dried within two or three days from the initial event. However, homeowners who initially tried to dry their homes before calling our team may find more water damage caused by the long exposure. Wood products absorb moisture and swell. Moisture can seep into concrete walls, which takes longer to dry. Mold colonies may have also begun to grow.

Don’t hesitate to call SERVPRO to help avoid additional water damage by allowing water to penetrate structures and building materials.

SERVPRO Can Handle Any Size Flood Damage in Nampa

Flooding after a storm can create a messy situation that needs professionals like SERVPRO to remediate. The flood damage to your Nampa or Caldwell home is not only caused by the accumulated water but also due to the contamination it brings. Professional restorers have the right tools and knowledge to tackle such contaminated waters safely.

SERVPRO Technicians adhere to the IICRC S500 standard during flood damage restoration of your Nampa home. We use biocides to control and limit the growth of the microorganisms whenever their use is appropriate, according to the S500 standard. SERVPRO only uses EPA-registered biocides during the restoration process.

When do SERVPRO Techs use Biocides During Flood Restoration of Your Nampa Home?

SERVPRO Technicians carefully consider the necessity of biocide use during the water damage restoration of your Nampa home. The objective of the restoration process is to eliminate all microbial growth. Often, this is accomplished by physically removing the contaminated material or by a thorough cleaning with an appropriate cleaning agent. SERVPRO Technicians might not consider the use of biocides in such situations.

However, under certain conditions, the use of biocides is unavoidable. The two situations in which SERVPRO Technicians do use biocides include:

  • The drying rate is too slow and is unable to prevent the microbial growth
  • Pathogenic organisms are already present in the floodwater.

If the drying rate is too slow, there is enough moisture present to support the development of the microbes, and biocides are the only way to prevent it from happening.

SERVPRO never uses biocides as a primary step to control contamination during flood restoration. Techs instead rely on rapid drying and removal of contaminated material for an efficient way to combat contamination.

What Steps Restore Flooding in Nampa Basements?

10/12/2021 (Permalink)

Storm damage restoration for your basement is no easy task. SERVPRO has the manpower and equipment for any size of disaster.

There are multiple approaches to recover flood-damaged Nampa homes.

The basement level is often an area where flooding can occur, especially in lower-lying flood plain areas. Natural flooding is destructive and damaging to property, so our SERVPRO team acts quickly to help clean up any contaminants and protect contents and structural elements of this lower level.

Water Removal Services

Heavy storms and threatening weather events can leave flood damage in Nampa homes quickly. The longer standing water remains a threat in these situations, the more destructive flooding events become. We have powerful extraction tools designed to overcome substantial deep water removal needs. This process is often a combination of submersible pumps and wet vacuums.

Debris and Muck-Out Cleanup

Natural flooding can introduce harmful debris to areas of the house. As water makes its way to the lowest levels of the property, solids find their way into this damaged area as well. Cleanup and restoration after a flood mean overcoming the muck to protect the underlying materials. We remove:

Content Protection and Relocation

Because basement levels might be either finished living space or an area for storage, standing water and flooding in neither of these scenarios is problematic. We relocate contents and items in harm's way to mitigate losses as restoration continues.

Needed Repairs and Reconstruction

An advantage of choosing our SERVPRO team is our general contractor license. Water damage penetration in this lower level of your home can show structural vulnerabilities that must be repaired or rebuilt to prevent recurrences.

Many have trusted our SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell team to help after disaster strikes with a full-service approach to flood restoration and cleanup. We are ready 24/7 when you call (208) 466-5000.

Flood Damage Linked to Heavy Precipitation in Caldwell

7/22/2021 (Permalink)

A storm may devastate your home and property. SERVPRO has the manpower and equipment for any size storm restoration needed.

Our SERVPRO Technicians are Trained to Dry Out Your Property Correctly Without Causing Additional Damage

Backdropped by mountains and bordered by the Boise River, Caldwell and Canyon County are always aware of the threat of flooding when rains are heavy. As the rivers swell, residents prepare for waters that come seeping or flowing into the lower levels of their dwellings. We await the call to help remove the waters and restore the extraordinary damage flooding brings.

Extreme weather patterns can bring significant flood damage to your Caldwell home. Rains deliver a faster consequence. When the waters invade your home, the damage feels overwhelming. Ordinary cleaning tactics fall short, and the tools you may try to use are inadequate for the challenge. Our mission is to rescue homeowners from the crushing damage possible when flooding occurs, restoring both your home and your peace of mind with our trained work crews and heavy-duty equipment.

Flood Damage Restoration Equipment

Floodwaters seep through the saturated ground, flow into foundation windows, or pour in through storm damage to roofs and siding. Our first task is to stabilize the exterior damage and remove the water inside with pumps or extractors. As the weather often knocks out power, our truck-mounted equipment makes this initial step possible even before utility crews complete their work. SERVPRO flood teams are familiar with necessary safety procedures to ensure our work does not make your structure even more dangerous.

Floodwaters are almost always at risk of contamination, and we collect and dispose of it by following local regulations. Substances such as fertilizers and pesticides and infectious waste including deceased animals, raw sewage, fuel oil, or natural gas may taint the waters. After most of the water exits, our team then evaluates your structure and contents to determine what to restore and what is too polluted to save. We work to sanitize non-porous surfaces and are vigilant concerning signs of microbial growth. SERVPRO IICRC crews train ineffective inventory and off-site staging techniques so you can review damaged items affected by the flooding carefully. Throughout, we maintain contact with your insurer to limit your out-of-pocket liability for the flood restoration.

Partner with SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell when the floodwaters damage your home and possessions. Call us at (208) 466-5000 as soon as you are able. We dispatch an experienced team within hours.

Flood Damage from Stormy Weather in Caldwell Brings More than Water

Floodwater contaminants are remedied with SERVPRO skilled technicians using proprietary products to protect your Caldwell home

Contaminants from Tainted Flood Waters Needs SERVPRO for Extraction and Cleanup

A storm is one thing that can scare many young children, but if rising water becomes a part of the situation, many adults often find themselves worried and fearful. This fear stems from the dangers of drowning to damage to their property in Caldwell. When there is enough time to escape severe flooding, authorities often evacuate in areas expected to see the worst. Other times, there is little warning, or flooding ends up much worse than anticipated, stranding people in their homes.

When the Boise River crests and overflows its banks, one of the areas hardest hit with subsequent flood damage is Caldwell. However, the problems brought on by flooding do not solely pertain to the water alone. The contamination levels in the river have been the focus of environmental groups.

Many people feel great relief when floodwaters recede, but discovering the number of harmful deposits and sediments remaining reveals the awful state their home is in now. Saturation of walls and wet floors is one problem, but unsanitary conditions, including those that can pose health effects to occupants, are entirely different. Post-flood situations can render homeowners altogether unprepared for what to do first and how to protect themselves and their children. One concern is if restoration of their home's safety at a microbial level is possible.

The technicians at SERVPRO can restore homes damaged by flooding, at every level, from the support system that forms your home's framework to the tiny nooks and crannies where dangerous microbes and other pathogens settle and hide. We have the tools to measure microbial populations, saving you from worrying about unwanted health effects that may linger in your residence. SERVPRO removes more than water after a flood. Removal of pathogens, sediment, fish, and other life from the river and larger debris is conducted so that your home is once again "Like it never even happened."

As we are working on your home, we measure the level of moisture to ensure that restorative work goes hand in hand with the many other required aspects of reclaiming your home. Disease-causing pathogens are not the only risk, as mold and mildew can also find a post-flood home the ideal breeding ground. Preventing future damage is an integral part of our work in protecting local homeowners' investments.

Always ready to help you, SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell can be reached at (208) 466-5000, whenever you need us, day or night, every day of the year. There is no job too large or too small for SERVPRO to handle successfully.

SERVPRO has the Resources to Handle Challenging Processes during Flood Removal in Nampa Properties

Nampa is an impressive city known for its prosperous food processing, manufacturing, and agribusiness companies. It is situated on the western tip of the state of Idaho, about 20 miles from Boise. It lies along interstate 84 and is the third-most populous city in the state. It is also part of the Boise-Nampa metropolitan area, which is also known as Treasure Valley. The name was coined in 1959 by Pete Olesen, the president of the valley's chamber of commerce, signifying the treasure chest of opportunities and resources the region offers. It includes various areas, including Boise, Ada, Gem, Canyon, and Owyhee.

The city started around the early 1880s with the construction of the Oregon Short Line Railroad that runs from Granger, Wyoming, to Huntington, Oregon, passing through Nampa. Other Railroads also passed through Nampa, making it a crucial railroad town. The name Nampa is thought to have originated from a Shoshoni word meaning footprint or moccasin. Shoshoni is a Numic language from the Uto-Aztecan family mostly spoken in the Western United States.

The early settlers referred to their town as New Jerusalem since most of its residents had a strong religious focus. The town was also unique from others started in the same era because its roads ran at right angles to the train tracks, which run in the northwest to southeast direction. In other towns, historic roads were designed facing true North and South.

Historical Changes in Nampa

  • Alexander and Hannah Duffes built the first homestead in the railroad town at around 1885. Alexander decided to put up the home while passing through the area to his old home in Canada when he saw the possibilities it presented for developing a town.
  • After the first home was built, the number grew from 15 to 50 within the first year.
  • The town was incorporated in 1890. The first elementary school, Lakeview School, was built soon after. After the 100th anniversary of the school, the building housing it was condemned.

Many people visiting Nampa today might wonder why there is a park named Lakeview, even though there is no lake in sight. However, in the early days, there was a man-made lake that stored water drawn from Mason Creek for irrigation. Lake Ethel was also famous for recreation since residents used to fish, swim, boat, and ice-skate during winters. The lake was initially owned by O.F. Persons but was later bought by E.H. Dewey. However, Dewey had to drain it after occasional flooding led to a series of neighbors' lawsuits.

Apart from the flooding caused by artificial alterations to the landscape, natural flooding is typical in Idaho. The Boise Valley Great Flood of 1862 was the earliest recorded instance by settlers in Southern Idaho. It covered the entire valley forming a lake, miles wide and stretching from the Northern foothills to the Bench in the south. Such incidents were common annually. Today, most of North Nampa is classified as a floodplain.

Interesting Places to Visit in Nampa

Although the city is famous for work and business opportunities, it also provides an environment rich in widespread natural beauty, culture, and local history. Some of the sites worth visiting while in town include:

  • Warhawk Air Museum

The unique museum located on Municipal Drive displays planes and various flying memorabilia collected from World War I to the jet era. The museum was set up in 1989 by John and Sue Paul as a tribute to veterans of the two world wars. Over time it has expanded its collections to include items from the Korean War, Cold War, Vietnam, Iraq, and Persian Gulf War. Apart from the items on display, the museum also organizes events such as airshows.

  • Sawtooth Winery

The expansive vineyard and estate started in 1987, provides a perfect opportunity to explore the laid back atmosphere of Treasure Valley. Visitors can taste grapes direct from the vines and the wine they produce. The facility offers general high-quality wines and limited-production club wines. There is a tasting room, and visitors can reserve indoor or outdoor space for events or when visiting as a group.

  • Canyon County Historical Museum

The facility, which features a one-story brick and sandstone building, was a train depot opened in 1903 and operated until 1927 when they converted it to an office for railroad employees. In 1972, it became the headquarters of the Canyon County Historical Society. A visit to the museum gives people a chance to explore local history since most of the exhibits are donations from local families. There are various train-related exhibits, and visitors can explore a restored caboose.

Which Flood Removal Resources Does SERVPRO Offer Nampa Residents?

Property owners need to take decisive action after a flooding incident. Such action should be timely and must address all the problems flooding causes. For instance, floodwaters soil building materials and contents heavily, necessitating thorough cleaning. Extensive contamination, especially of porous materials, necessitates teardown, and rebuilding of some sections of the property. It takes various resources, including equipment and skills, to respond to such incidents. SERVPRO eases the process for Nampa homeowners by handling problems such as:

  • Safe carpet removal and installation since carpets and pad and porous and thus absorb significant amounts of contaminants. Apart from taking the necessary precautions to dispose of the materials safely, SERVPRO technicians also ensure no damage to parts of the structure such as wall plates and door trims during removal.
  • A thorough decontamination of all sections of the property. Since floodwaters contain a cocktail of chemical and biological contaminants, our technicians apply broad-spectrum and EPA-registered disinfectants on all surfaces to neutralize all harmful substances.
  • Drying all materials affected during the flooding incident is essential to prevent microbial growth and bad odors, among other problems. Our technicians have advanced detection equipment to trace moisture migration patterns. We also have sophisticated drying equipment, including LGR and desiccant dehumidifiers, as well as cavity drying equipment.

Nampa Properties Can Get Fast Help After Flood Damage From SERVPRO Professionals

Located in Canyon County, Nampa is the largest city in the county. The population is just under 100,000 residents, and it has a growing economy. The Shoshone Indians indigenous to the area are where the city's name came from; the word means "moccasin or footprint" in the native language.

History of Nampa

As far as cities in the United States go, Nampa started later than many others as it did not exist until the early 1880s when the Oregon Short Line Railroad built tracks from Wyoming to Oregon and passed through the city. As time passed, more railroad lines made this area a hub. This rapid growth led to the town getting incorporated in 1890. In the present, the city has a thriving business center for:

  • Food processing and agri-business
  • Manufacturing
  • Technology companies
  • Healthcare-based companies are one of the fastest-growing sectors

The Direction of Nampa Roads

The roads in Nampa have an unusual feature. Most towns that sprang up in the late 1800s had streets that ran north and south. However, because this city was so important to the railroad, the roads ran perpendicular to the tracks.

The founder of the town, Alexander Duffes, designed the streets to run in this fashion because he was the architect of the streets in Toronto, Canada, and he made the streets run parallel to the tracks, and it caused the deaths of a woman and her two children. The family got killed by a train after their wagon wheel got stuck. This tragedy led to the different layout for the streets in Nampa's region built around railroad tracks.

The Idaho State School in Nampa

In 1910, a state school and hospital for developmentally challenged children and adults got established. The idea was to create a school, hospital, and farm that would be mostly self-sufficient with higher-functioning residents assisted in other residents' care. The farm on the site got sold and became Centennial and Ridgecrest golf courses. The facility, now over 100 years old, has been updated, and some older buildings get used to house juvenile offenders.

Top Places to Visit in Nampa

The city of Nampa has a large number of historical landmarks that serve as points of interest. The state of Idaho has a foundation that began with the railroad, and there are many restored depots throughout the state. The main one in this city has a unique architecture and was a stop along the Oregon Short Line when that railway was in operation. The depot, built-in 1903, was the reason that the municipality came into being.

American history buffs will appreciate a visit to a dark part of Idaho history at the Bear River Monument. The Shoshone native Indian inhabitants of the area had several clashes with the settlers in what would later be Nampa. What now looks like a stretch of peaceful farmland was the site of the single worst massacre of Native Americans in United States history. The site has a monument, numerous plaques detailing what led to the event, and a beautiful tree where visitors pay their respects and leave memorials and offerings in honor of the hundreds of slain Shoshoni. The local Shoshone tribe gathers once a year on this spot to remember and pay tribute to their fallen ancestors.

Military historians and enthusiasts enjoy a visit to the USS Hawkbill. This decommissioned attack sub has a fin that rests just outside of Nampa in Arco. The sub is sometimes referred to as the "Devil's Boat" since it has the number "666." Many people are surprised to learn that nuclear propulsion for submarines began in Idaho, rather than a coastal area of the country. Another frequently touted venue is the Warhawk Air Museum. The museum opened in 1989 and is a place where military aviation history gets preserved and displayed as an educational destination. Many of the vintage planes still fly, and the collection includes:

  • P-51C Mustang
  • P-40N Warhawk
  • F-86F Sabre Jet
  • MiG-21
  • F-104 Starfighter

Can Furniture With Flood Damage In A Nampa Home Get Restored?

After flood damage hits a Nampa home, the main thing that makes the difference in whether or not an item has restoration potential is the time that elapses between the event and SERVPRO arriving. Although most floodwater recedes as quickly as it enters a home, the migration path of the water can cause it to:

  • Wind up wicked into walls
  • Seeped under flooring
  • Absorbed into the carpet and upholstered furnishings

Furniture with damage from floodwater generally has two primary outcomes: restoration using the proprietary methods used by the SERVPRO techs or disposal with approval from the property owner or adjuster. The technicians carefully inspect water-exposed furnishings and look for signs of absorption, swelling of the joints, cracks, or deterioration in cases of composite wood furniture.

When the furniture has restoration potential, the techs use air movers and dehumidifiers to rapidly remove the moisture and then use wood-specific agents to remove water spots and help seal and protect the wood grain in cases of upholstered furnishings with exposure to water. A good deal of whether it can get restored depends on the type of water the technicians need to handle. If it is rainwater, there is a good chance the piece can get cleaned, dried, and sanitized for reuse. However, if it is groundwater, the article may very well be a loss due to this type of floodwater's toxic nature.

It is impossible to look at a piece and furniture and know that it is dry. The techs use various equipment types, including infrared cameras and probes, to ensure the furniture gets entirely dried before moving on to the final step of the mitigation to prep the furniture for reuse in the home.

SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell at (208) 466-5000 is available 24/7 for local properties that need help with the cleanup of flood damage resulting from storms. The trained techs can remove the water and dry the structure to help life return to normal, "Like it never even happened."

Where Can I Get Emergency Storm Repair at Short Notice?

6/2/2020 (Permalink)

SERVPRO Maximizes your flood damage coverage to your Nampa Home with great cleanup and restoration. "Like it never even happened."

SERVPRO Operates Twenty-Four-Hours a Day for Residents with Storm Damage in Nampa.

What Classifies as Storm Insurance?

Weather surges include violent winds, rainfall, hail, snow, or flash flooding that impact the Nampa community. Many home insurance policies provide coverage for storm-related harm to a property, although some may exclude particular types of flooding. Restoration frequently focuses on controlling water impact as well as cleanup for properties adversely affected by extreme weather conditions. SERVPRO has out-of-hours technicians who are available for emergency call-outs during violent weather emergencies and can significantly reduce the impact of storms.

Is home repair urgent after a storm surge?

The physical impact of storm damage to your Nampa home can affect the structural integrity of your building. While total collapse is rare, exposing parts of the property to rainwater intrusion and debris can lead to lasting harm and excessive repair expenses. Most insurers delineate between emergency services and secondary damages. Failure to prove appropriate action taken against water intrusion or mitigating secondary issues, like structural exposure, could complicate your claim. Our technicians are ready to perform emergency mitigation tasks at your home within four hours of notification of loss.

What Is Emergency Mitigation in Restoration?

  • Scoping the property for safety hazards
  • Limiting structural exposure by installing temporary tarpaulin to prevent water intrusion
  • Drying out the property
  • Boarding up broken doors or windows

Is emergency mitigation necessary after a storm surge?

Controlling losses is successful when protection is put in place on the first day. In a storm scenario, your property can continue to sustain harm from wind and rainwater without appropriate intervention. The longer a property remains exposed to the elements, the more expensive it becomes to restore. Our crew chiefs work with a restore rather than replace mentality, which relies on emergency mitigation and intelligent planning to ensure that we can salvage as much as possible from your structure and contents.

For an effective response to storm surges, contact SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell at (208) 466-5000.

How Can I Handle Flood Water Coming into My Home?

SERVPRO Can Help with Mitigating Loss from Flood Damage to Restore Your Nampa Home

When you are dealing with any amount of floodwaters entering your home, this is the type of emergency that you want to address as soon as possible. Once flooding from outside begins to fill your basement or the lower level of your home, the water can be filled with various contaminants. Instead of thinking that a do-it-yourself cleanup project is enough to take care of it, you need to remember that this water can be dangerous. Additionally, excessive water in the home can leave lingering moisture that may transform into hazardous mold and mildew.

What Can I Do Until the Experts Arrive to Handle Water Removal?

As a homeowner, there are specific actions you can do before the time that SERVPRO arrives to address your flood damage in Nampa, including:

• Ensuring that the flood-damaged area is closed off from the rest of your home

• If possible, try to have the power shut off to the area to limit the potential for danger

• Do not touch the water loss area to avoid contact with potentially contaminated water

When Our Team Arrives at Your Property, We Get to Work Fast!

Once we arrive at your Nampa home, we start with a full assessment of the water loss, which may include testing the water. This helps us determine whether or not bacteria, chemicals, or other contaminants are in the water. What this does, is it allows us to select the best antimicrobial treatments for the water, if necessary.

Another step our technicians may take it containment, allowing us to stop cross-contamination throughout your home while we are extracting water and drying the area. Any airborne water droplets could contain harmful bacteria that may be dangerous to breathe in. We always take the right precautions, ensuring all of our team is outfitted with personal protection equipment (PPE). It is also vital that we use air scrubber equipment, which allows us to capture various airborne elements while improving overall air quality throughout our mitigation efforts.

Why is it Dangerous To Deal With Flood Water?

Flood water is filled with unknown contaminants and often large amounts of debris. It is important to note that non-porous items in the impacted area of your home have the highest potential for restoration. For this, SERVPRO technicians often use immersion cleaning to get the best level of clean.

When it comes to water loss incidents such as a flood, mold can start to grow in as little as 24 hours from infiltration, then spreads rapidly. Our skilled technicians are trained to spot the warning signs that mold and mildew infestation may take hold, so we work proactively to stop the microbes before they can multiply.

Some of the issues that you may have in a flood loss event will include:

• Damaged sheetrock from water wicking, which calls for flood cuts or full replacement

• Total loss of carpeting and the padding below if all restoration efforts are exhausted

• Tile flooring in the water loss area that fully delaminates

• Partial or complete replacement of hardwood flooring – we understand each case is different, so we do everything possible to salvage your materials

Odor Control is Imperative Post-Water Cleanup

Once our team extracts all of the water and the area is visibly dry, there is still the potential for foul odors. Flood loss often comes with odors that linger within porous materials throughout the home, so we have specialized cleaning and deodorizing techniques to address them. We use advanced formulas to help disinfect surfaces, including powerful antimicrobial and antibacterial cleaning agents. There are some situations that may call for more involved applications to reduce more robust odors.

In the event that odors linger, our team may use thermal fogging techniques. This is an option that works well with embedded odors. A special solvent is heated until it turns into a fog that covers all areas of the water loss. As the fog makes contact with odor molecules, it adheres to them and breaks the odor chain to eliminate pungent smells.

Another option is hydroxyl generators that utilize ultraviolet rays to move all airborne molecules that cause odor. While these machines are tough on odors, they are safe to use around your pets, family, and your houseplants.

You should never feel as though you have to go it alone when you are dealing with flood damage in your home. With a simple phone call to our team at SERVPRO of Nampa/Caldwell, we will send a restoration team out to get started. You can reach us 24/7 at (208) 466-5000  for all of your mitigation and water removal needs so that we can make it “Like it never even happened.”

Protecting Your Nampa Property After A Flood

2/14/2020 (Permalink)

“Like it never even happened.”

Protecting Your Nampa Property From Flood Damage and What to Do If It Happens

It is easy to become immune to worry when a flash flood warning gets issued in your area when flood damage has not occurred previously. Flood damage is one of the most costly events that can happen to a residence as only a couple of inches of water can wreak havoc on a structure.

SERVPRO technicians restore Nampa homes from flood damage; the critical element is time. The longer the exposure occurs, the higher the loss from the water and the potential for mold occurs.

Protecting Your Property from Flash Floods
Some flash floods happen from predictable river crestings from the Boise, Snake, and Payette Rivers. More often, though, flash floods are simply the result of more rain than the ground can absorb. Homeowners need to ensure proper drainage, the grade points away from your property, and gutters are not clogged are all steps towards helping prevent flooding.

Why Floodwater is Worse Than a Plumbing Problem
The biggest problem with floodwater is it picks up everything it encounters along the way. This includes dirt, debris, chemicals, and often sewage. This is why it is essential to engage a professional restoration company because of the contaminated nature of the water.

Safety During Flood Cleanup
SERVPRO technicians test the water to determine any bacteria or toxins present and take the appropriate action to treat areas they are working on. It not advisable to remain within the premises during this type of cleanup due to the potential to aspirate airborne pathogens that may be present. The techs wear personal protective gear, including respirators, to limit the chances of this occurring during mitigation.

Common Actions During Floodwater Cleanup
Building materials that wick water generally have a poor prognosis for restoration and get removed cleanly through a controlled demo technique knows as flood cuts. This action opens the walls cavities for drying and leaves a clean line for easy restoration once the cleanup efforts complete.

SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell at (208) 466-5000 restores homes with flood damage using their equipment and intensive training to make the water loss in the property, “Like it never even happened.”

Our Experts Discuss Steps To Efficient Flood Damage Cleanup In Cadwell

11/23/2019 (Permalink)

Addressing flooding promptly helps prevent severe destruction to a home.

Steps to Efficient Flood Damage Cleanup in Your Cadwell Home

When flooding occurs in your property, it can start ruining building materials and the possessions in it within a short time. The aftermath of flooding is also often as damaging as or even worse than the flooding itself. Flooding may slowly weaken the frames and foundation of your home or cause septic materials to back up into it.

If you are dealing with flood damage in your Cadwell home, it is essential to hire skilled professionals to remove the water, dry, and sanitize the property. A trusted restoration firm like SERVPRO has the equipment and workforce to clean up your home. We recognize the need for decisive and quick action, and that’s why we are highly responsive and easily accessible when you need our services.

Floodwater can pose a bacterial threat to you, your family, and pets because it collects many hazardous substances as it flows. We classify it as category 3 water. Our restorers can take steps to ensure that the water does not endanger your health by removing it quickly, using chemicals to destroy contaminants, and throwing away ruined items that are impossible to salvage. We can also use a luminometer to test surfaces for organic contamination.

To remove the water, our technicians can use self-priming trash pumps or electric submersible pumps. Removing as much water as possible from your home can quicken drying time. The main problem in a flooded house is that even after removing the water, there could be moisture in the walls, floors, ceiling, and furniture, among other items. If you assume that the affected parts of your house are dry when they are not, serious consequences can happen. For instance, mold can grow one or two days after the floodwater has entered your home, causing health effects. It is crucial to dry the house thoroughly to pull out the absorbed moisture.

Our SERVPRO technicians have advanced devices that can detect moisture in different materials. This equipment enables us to address all the water-damaged areas of your house that you might miss. Some tools we can use to track moisture within your home include:

    •    Infrared cameras
    •    Moisture sensors
    •    Moisture meters
    •    Thermal-hygrometers

We can remove moisture using air movers and dehumidifiers. Our technicians can then clean and sanitize your home using antimicrobial products to eliminate microbes. After completing the restoration work, we can leave your home in a suitable condition for rebuilding work. We can subcontract the work to licensed contractors who can use materials that match the design and finishes of the building materials in your home.

Addressing flooding promptly helps prevent severe destruction to a home. You can turn to SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell for prompt and professional services in Nampa and neighboring areas. You can reach us at (208) 466-5000.

Inspection

Our crew assesses the flood damage and then creates a plan on how to handle the situation.

Debris and water removal

Floodwater can bring a large amount of debris in your home, such as leaves, building rubble, soil, and sharp objects like broken glass. You may also need to dispose of water-damaged items. Our technicians can remove such debris safely. We can use different pumps to get rid of all the standing water such as electric submersible pumps, high-pressure pumps, and self-priming trash pumps.

Drying

Once we remove as much flood water as possible, we can dry out the home. Drying requires heat, air movement, and low humidity. We use air movers to achieve air movement and portable heaters to heat the affected areas to 70 to 90 degrees. Our crew also uses dehumidifiers to remove water vapor from the air, ensuring no moisture remains in the walls, ceilings, floors, and other surfaces. We also look for areas in a building where structures and contents could have absorbed moisture beyond normal levels. We can track moisture within your home using:

  • Thermal imaging cameras

  • Moisture sensors

  • Moisture meters

  • Thermal-hygrometers

Sanitizing and deodorization

Floodwater is hazardous because it may contain livestock and human waste, industrial wastewater, and medical waste. Our SERVPRO technicians can apply disinfectants in the affected surfaces to eliminate microorganisms. The Easy Way To Complete Storm Damage Remediation in Nampa

7/23/2019 (Permalink)

Don't let your basement get inundated with flood and water damage. Call the professionals at SERVPRO today for remediation assistance.

Water Removal Tools to Use on Your Flooded Nampa Home

Having the right tools for a restoration job in your Nampa home increases your success rates and the time you spend working on the project. Flooding can be a particularly challenging situation to overcome, especially when you either do not have the right equipment or do not know what tools and devices can make the task easier to accomplish. As much as our SERVPRO professionals strive to be there for you quickly in an emergency, we also want to make sure that homes in our area get well informed in ways to limit damage to their property and begin recovery after flooding on their own.

Overcoming flood damage in Nampa residences begins with having the right mitigation equipment. Water removal is such a critical element of flood recovery, so ensuring that you have a machine powerful enough to handle the standing water in your house can make a substantial difference. Our SERVPRO team utilizes many units, including truck-mount pumps for high volume extractions, but here are some options that you can likely use for your property:

  • Wet/Dry Vac

These are often tools that many homeowners already have and can help to begin quickly removing standing water from the house. Most units collect the water in a tank, and the user disposes of it in the appropriate place.

  • Engine Driven Pump (Gas)

While you can purchase these, and many homeowners have them, they are much less common than wet-vacs and portable pumps. These are much heavier units, but also far more powerful than both of the other options listed here. These can get rented from hardware stores as needed, and because they run on gasoline, do not require power in your home to get started.

  • Portable Sump Pumps (Electric)

These are submersible units, and depending on their size and strength, can make a significant impact on the standing water in a property. To discharge outside, you might need multiple lengths of the outlet hose.

Understanding some of the tools that you can acquire to remove standing water from your property can help you to protect your house during a flooding scenario better. If things get to be too much, you can count on our SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell to make it “Like it never even happened” by calling (208) 466-5000.

Who Wants to Handle Flood Damage Remediation in Nampa Alone?

Storm damage in your Nampa residence can be devastating. Contact SERVPRO today for remediation assistance.

SERVPRO Handles Flood Damage in Nampa Home from Strong Storms

This area of Idaho is no stranger to wild weather, especially intense storms resulting in flash floods. The problem with groundwater when it enters your home is that it can bring a myriad of issues with it, including silt, debris, chemicals and even sewage.

A homeowner in Nampa contacted our SERVPRO location for assistance with flood damage in his home. He stated he used towels to blot up the water that came in from a worn seal around his storm door, however water seeped back out around the walls, and he wanted help cleaning it up.

Because groundwater rates as a category three biohazard, sometimes referred to as "black water" professional mitigation is vital for health and sanitation reasons. We arrived quickly and scoped the room using moisture detection equipment to see all the areas the water migrated into. Thanks to the homeowner's fast response to the initial incoming water, he had moved out everything on the floor before it got wet, and we found no excess moisture in the subfloor or wicked into the sheetrock.

There were high areas of moisture behind the baseboards around the room and our technicians removed the baseboards so we could use our portable extractors and made several passes over the open wall cavities to extract all the excess moisture possible before we set up air movers to dry the wall cavities.

We have specialized drying equipment for situations such as this. The Injecti-Dry forces warm, dry air into tight spaces and delivers a faster drying time than using air movers on the outside of the wall only.

Because mold spores potentially activate as fast as 48-hours after a water loss if conditions are right, we strive to inhibit those conditions. Our drying goals usually hover around 40% humidity or less, slightly more or less depending on the readings for unaffected areas of the home to ensure we maintain standard humidity levels unique to the property. Afterward, SERVPRO technicians thoroughly clean and disinfect all affected surfaces with our powerful antifungal cleaners.

SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell has the training and equipment to handle any size flood damage in your home. We respond 24/7 at (208) 466-5000 and make your water loss "Like it never even happened."

Our Crew Will Respond Immediately To Your Nampa Flood Damage Restoration Needs

5/16/2019 (Permalink)

Our team members used a dehumidifier and several air movers to restore this home after water damage hit.

Moisture Wicking from Flood Damage in Nampa Home

Direct exposure of moisture and dampness following flooding incidents around your Nampa home can often be destructive enough, but materials that can wick moisture can add another level of damage for professionals to contend with when it comes to restoration and recovery. With the conventional installation of drywall throughout finished basements and living spaces of your property, these surfaces are often among the most susceptible to the wicking phenomenon. Our team can help to protect these surfaces with a fast response and the use of our advanced equipment and modern practices.

With any flood damage situation that occurs in your Nampa home, our professionals understand the importance of responding immediately. We have ready trailers and service vehicles ready to roll out from our SERVPRO facility 24/7 with the capable mitigation equipment and our experienced personnel to make a significant difference for your damaged property. With flooding, often the most significant threat is the standing water and how far from the source that this water damage can travel. We work quickly to implement containment strategies and extraction equipment to get the situation under control.

Drywall can quickly absorb standing water, especially from its bottom against the framing baseboards. As this problem persists, the moisture and saturation can begin to wick up from the base of the wall towards the ceiling. Depending on the length of exposure and the height of the standing water, this problem can spread several feet from the floors. We have multiple devices that can work to determine the severity of this exposure, including infrared and thermal imagery. With the use of this equipment, we can determine how high wicking has occurred and can use this as a literal line to remove exposed drywall for later replacement.

Wicking is a common occurrence with materials in your flood-damaged home, and drywall is among the most susceptible of these surfaces. To reduce the time of recovery and cost of materials, our SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell can work quickly to remove oversaturated portions of drywall to prepare your property for repairs. Give our experienced recovery team a call anytime that you need us at (208) 466-5000.

Our Certified Professionals Have The Right Tools To Restore Your Nampa Home After A Flood

We make your home safe to live in again after a flood. We have the experience, expertise and equipment and we are in service to you 24/7.

Flood Damage Restoration After a Sewage Backup in Your Nampa Home

Flooding of any kind entering your Nampa home can be devastating, but flooding from sewer backup can be much worse. It happens when water is pushed into your residence from the drainage or sewer systems and is very unpleasant. It involves dirty water from sewers that not only destroys your personal property but can also impact the health of you and your family since it is unsanitary.

When you have flood damage from sewer backup in your Nampa home, you need help right away. At SERVPRO, our staff is professionally trained remediation specialists who have the tools and experience to help you restore your home to the safe and cozy state it usually is.

One cause of a sewage backup into your home is if the city main becomes blocked. A blockage like this can cause water to back up into your home through the pipes. Aging sewer systems which require repair or updates can also cause issues for you.

Because of the nature of the water, SERVPRO techs must do a biohazard cleanup in your home, other than just regular flood water damage remediation. We always wear PPE or personal protective equipment to avoid contaminants in the water touching our eyes, skin, or mouth. Boots, gloves, splash goggles, full body suits, and respirators round out our protective gear. We have to remove any carpeting and padding which was affected, and depending on how much water there is we may need to cut away sections of drywall and walls that were soaked and contaminated. The whole area is also disinfected.

Another reason for a sewage backup into your home can be tree roots which find their way into older sewer lines and pipes, creating blockages. You can check for this problem in your lines by having a plumber check your pipes and doing some preventative maintenance.

Pipeline issues which are city-related such as combined pipelines or issues in the sanitary main can cause you problems in your own home. When the system you use combines the stormwater and sewage into one pipeline instead of separate lines for each, they are combined pipelines. Because of this, the system can get overwhelmed during a storm, backing the water up into your home.

SERVPRO of Nampa/Caldwell can help you anytime you have a flooding situation in your home in Caldwell, Nampa, or the surrounding areas due to a sewage backup. It is not safe to try and clean it yourself, so please give us a call right away at (208) 466-5000, so we can help you.

Let Our Team Mitigate Your Loss After A Nampa Flood

2/14/2019 (Permalink)

We have the right tools to remove ice preventing further buildup after a flood. Give us a call right away so we can begin prevention and restoration.

Can Ice Damming Cause Flooding in Your Nampa Home?

Through the harshest points of the winter, the temperature around your Nampa home can drop considerably. Combined with heavier snowfall throughout this season, many homes experience ice damming. With many roofs shingled, ice damming can allow for leaking when a growing dam on the edge of the roof penetrates beneath the shingles and melts. Often this is a result of thawing from warm spots on the roof while the temperature is still well below freezing. The situation is even more critical when the dam becomes large enough to restrict melt off from escaping the roof, and it finds a weak point in the roof to exploit and leaks inside.

Preventing a flood from an ice dam in your Nampa home can be as simple as readily checking your roof for signs of buildup. However, without the appropriate tools and safe anchoring, it might prove dangerous to remove ice dams on your own amid freezing temperatures.

Worse still, many homeowners do not recognize the potential of flooding for their homes until these dams have already allowed water to begin flowing into the home unabated. While this might be a finite amount of flow, depending on the buildup on the roof, it can still spread quickly causing considerable damage to the attic and floors below. Our SERVPRO rapid response team can arrive quickly to help mitigate your loss in this situation and offer effective solutions for drying and extraction.

One of the most severe concerns for the attic space is further penetration and mold production, as your attic is often one of the warmest areas of the house. Drying out the flood damage is vital to prevent the colonization of mold, and our SERVPRO team can also identify water penetration points and seal over these areas to prevent further flow.

While ice damming continues to be a problem for many homes throughout the winter season, many homeowners learn about this phenomenon when flooding has already affected their property. Let our SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell team clean up the mess and dry up the damage. Give us a call 24/7 at (208) 466-5000.

Muddy Storm Water in Residential Homs Is A Big No No!

11/16/2018 (Permalink)

Muddy water can cause substantial damage to your Caldwell residential home.

Caldwell's Flood Damage Restoration Team Discuss Problems With Muddy Water

If a violent thunderstorm ever makes its way into the Caldwell area, a lot of rain could come down very quickly. If rainwater builds up outside, it is likely that it makes its way into your house and causes extensive flood damage. Whenever water comes in from the outside, there are several issues that could arise. Moisture coming from the outdoors can also bring things in with it such as dirt or bacteria. Our SERVPRO technicians often use different methods during flood damage mitigation depending on how contaminated the water is.

When dealing with problems associated with water in the restoration industry, each situation gets a category one, two, or three classification. During most flood damage projects in Caldwell, the water is either grey (category two) or black (category three.) If it is only rainwater that enters your structure, the water is not clean and might be contaminated, so it receives the category two label. If the moisture coming in from the outside has mixed with dirt and is very muddy, then it can be considered the same as highly contaminated sewage water and treated as a category three situation. Category one projects are those that deal only with clean water sources and could take place if your plumbing somehow gets broken during the storm.

If your neighborhood got flooded as a result of the thunderstorm, then there is a good chance mirky, muddy water made its way into your home. This "black" water is treated differently by our SERVPRO technicians because the chances that it is contaminated by harmful bacteria are very high. When black water gets into your home, we are forced to replace just about every material that the water directly contacted. In many situations, this includes carpet and other flooring materials and sometimes even sections of your drywall. Once the affected materials are removed, the subfloor and studs get treated with antimicrobial solutions or painted with a sealant.

Flood Damage Cleanup in Your Nampa Home Can Make a Big Difference

9/16/2018 (Permalink)

When flooding hits our area after a storm, contact the certified technicians at SERVPRO to effectively dry out your home.

SERVPRO Technicians Thoroughly Search for Hidden Pockets of Water in Your Home After Flooding

From experience, we expect to deal with three types of contents when attending to flood damage incidents. There are those contents which are salvageable, those that we have to discard, and the garbage that flood waters carry along. While it is possible to identify the garbage, sometimes you need to work with professional to know what you can restore and what unsalvageable. Also, it is necessary to take the right measures immediately since as time goes by, what was restorable may end up being unsalvageable. Let us look at some of the restoration measures we put in place addressing such incidents in Nampa.

Sagging ceilings are a concern in your home, and we have to drain them carefully during flood damage restoration in Nampa. We replace ceiling made of wallboard when the floodwaters go above the ceiling. Though plaster ceilings eventually dry, if they have sags or cracks we tear them down and make a replacement. Our SERVPRO technicians also remove wet insulation from the ceilings to speed up drying around the joints.

It is necessary to check if water is trapped in the walls. To do this, our SERVPRO technicians remove the baseboard and stick an awl into the wall - preferably a point that is 2 inches above the building's floor. If some water drips out, then we can use a cordless or hand drill to drill holes into the wall for the water to freely come out.

Some walls have some vinyl wall covering seals that can prevent or slow down drying. Also, if the wallpapers remain in place, they can form suitable conditions for mold growth. Our SERVPRO technicians remove all wall covering and discard them off. We must also remove the floor covering the allow air movement around flooded floors. We keep a sample of the discarded covering to make it easy for the adjuster to do the correct valuation.

SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell is available 24/07 and committed to offering both residential and commercial cleaning and restoration services. Call us at (208) 466-5000 so that we can make your disaster-struck home to feel like home again.

How Properties of Materials Affect Flood Damage Restoration in Nampa

7/15/2018 (Permalink)

When moisture from flooding saturates many items in your home, call SERVPRO for effective drying out services. Call right away for best results.

SERVPRO Technicians Have the Training and Experience to Understand How Different Materials in Your Home Respond to Moisture

Different materials are affected differently by the moisture. For a successful restoration, it is essential to understand the relationship between moisture and different contents. Different materials are affected differently by the moisture. For a successful restoration, it is necessary to know the relationship between moisture and different contents. The goal is to choose the most suitable method to restore materials and prevent further damage to your Nampa property.

Permeance is one of the critical factors that our SERVPRO technicians look at when restoring materials after a flood damage incident in Nampa. The property determines the amount of moisture which can pass through a material. Items such as upholstery and carpets are highly porous, which means their permeance is so high. Materials such as vinyl, glass, and plastics have low permeance and absorb little or no water vapor.

Our SERVPRO team also determines whether materials are hygroscopic - whether they can readily absorb and hold moisture from the surrounding air. The good with such materials is that they easily release the vapor when dried properly. Since they have a high permeance factor, they are quickly damaged when exposed to moisture for a long time. We can conclude that materials which easily absorb and release water are more straightforward to dry when compared to those that moisture finds it hard to penetrate.

During the restoration process, our SERVPRO technicians dry your items until we reach a condition known as EMC (Equilibrium moisture content). At this condition, there is no moisture moving from wet items to the dry air. To fasten the rate of evaporation, we use air movers to sweep the saturated air from surfaces and replace it with drier air. If the air becomes highly saturated with moisture, we use dehumidifiers to absorb the water vapor. The number of dehumidifiers set up must be in a position to absorb the moisture content that air movers sweep into the surrounding air. We do calculations to achieve that balance.

Natural Springs Could Flood Your Caldwell Home Regularly

5/4/2018 (Permalink)

If your home suffers flood damage, call the professionals at SERVPRO to restore your home and help prevent future problems.

SERVPRO is Experienced and Trained in Flood Damage Restoration

Caldwell homeowners are all too familiar with the possibility of encountering underground springs on their property. What you might not realize is that with a slight shift in the earth around these underground cavities, they can route towards the foundation of your home. Suddenly, with every passing storm, your home's exterior allows water through the blockwork that has degraded over time.

While you might not be familiar with flood damages in your Caldwell home, finding the right professional team to help you sort out the mess and to help you find a solution to prevent recurrences is critical. When you call our SERVPRO team, our initial inspection can determine the full scope of the damage that you face as well as locate the potentially vulnerable access points for water to make it into your basement.

One of the crucial components of the process of restoring this damage to your home is extracting the present water through the use of portable pumps. Our SERVPRO technicians might recommend the installation of a sump pump if the spring water affecting your home can be drawn away using one of these devices successfully.

While our team works to remove the present water in the basement of your home, we also assess the need for repairing aspects of your vulnerable blockwork through the use of hydraulic cement. Other actions might also need to be taken to ensure that new installations like sump pumps serve your home better. These needs could include grading the floor or installing drains.

Ensuring that the area gets thoroughly dry is vital for avoiding conditions like mold growth. While several pieces of equipment could get used for this process, the job typically falls to dehumidification machines and industrial strength air movers.

While no one wants to have a wet, flooded basement, finding a solution so that this problem does not persist is equally essential to SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell. Our experienced technicians can help you clean up the current mess and work to find a feasible solution to prevent future recurrences. Give us a call 24/7 at (208) 466-5000.

Remediating Flood Damage In Nampa

3/20/2018 (Permalink)

Dealing with the effects of flood damage in Nampa requires a professional team of restoration experts.

Remediating Flood Damage

With its proximity to Lake Caldwell, Nampa homes are at more risk from storms and flooding than some other towns and cities in Idaho. Several days of continuous, heavy rain can force it and local creeks over their banks and into nearby living rooms and kitchens.

Dealing with the effects of flood damage in Nampa requires a professional team of restoration experts. SERVPRO maintains a 24-hour response team that can quickly arrive not just to remove flood water, but starts to immediately remediate and reduce the damage it can cause in each home.

Our team members start with commercial pumps and water extraction wands. For deeper water, we use the pumps to draw out the bulk of the water. This procedure also lets one of our inspectors look through the home and prioritize where we need first to begin other efforts. Once the water is too low for the pumps to operate efficiently, we use the wands to draw water from surfaces and begin the process of removing it from inside carpets and out from between the floorboards.

As we draw out the water, other team members remove furniture as soon as it is safe to do so. We perform this task to prevent varnish, paint, and color from upholstered furniture and carpets from leeching into the water. If we do not, these can stain carpets, drywall, and anything else still in the water.

Next, SERVPRO technicians reduce the air moisture content, or humidity level, inside the home. We do this to reduce the chance of floorboards warping and to dry out carpets, furniture, and building material like drywall and wood paneling. Team members start by installing dehumidifiers throughout the home. These devices can draw over 20 gallons of water out of the air, depending on the moisture content, every 24 hours. We also use air movers to force warm, dry air across floors and walls to push out any trapped moisture. These devices are also useful in drying furniture.

The next week shows rain for our area nearly every day. If you are already dealing with flooding in your home, or want to know how to reduce the effects before the first drop falls, call SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell at (208) 466-5000. We’re Here to Help!

Disinfecting Household Items After Flood Damage in Caldwell

1/20/2018 (Permalink)

SERVPRO uses professional products to sanitize your home and keep it safe for you and your family after flood damage.

Effective Flood Damage Restoration Services

Many people in Caldwell live in areas that are at risk of flooding. Storms, in particular, are notorious for causing heavy rains that go on for days, ultimately leading to water leakages into the house. Some of this water streams down the walls and finds its way onto the carpet, cabinets, drapery and other items. In extreme cases, the flood can overwhelm the house completely, soaking up whole pieces of furniture and house appliances.

SERVPRO is one of the most effective flood damage restoration services in Caldwell for a good reason. We remove excess water and dry water-damaged items and surfaces quickly and efficiently, restoring them to their original state in no time. Our professionals are on call 24 hours a day, every day of the week. As soon as you contact us, we dispatch a team of highly trained, IICRC-certified technicians immediately to deal with the emergency.

The type of water damage involved dictates the next steps we take. The three main types of flood damage are clean, gray, and black, depending on the quality of water. In any case, we may have to move and block the large items as needed.

When the site is unsanitary, SERVPRO flood damage technicians use professional products to create a safer working environment. These include disinfectants and antimicrobial solutions. The former are antimicrobials that kill about 99 percent of all organisms they meet on surfaces, while an antimicrobial agent refers to any chemical that has the ability to stop microorganisms from developing.

Apart from applying professional products, the mitigation process also involves removing water by drying the materials and getting rid of contaminated items. When dealing with sewage-contaminated environments, SERVPRO flood damage experts apply biocides two times. The first treatment occurs before work begins to protect the workers during the cleanup process. It serves to decontaminate the materials and surfaces, but it is not completely effective at disinfecting the environment. The second treatment, which is applied after cleaning, helps to minimize exposure that may present health effects.

The moment your home experiences flood damage, your family becomes vulnerable to numerous microorganisms which can cause health effects. Every second counts, but you can bet on SERVPRO of Nampa / Caldwell to reverse the flood damage in no time, “Like it never even happened.” Call us anytime at (208) 466-5000.

A few inches of flooding can reach many parts of your home and feel like your entire house is floating away. Contact SERVPRO for a quick response.

SERVPRO Technicians Arrive Ready to Dry Out Your Flooded Home

Anyone living in Idaho knows that the state has a long history of flood damage. It only takes the Boise river to rise, and suddenly there is water in the streets and homes. Residents of the area know that the most sensible thing is to prepare their homes for floods before anything happens. However, even with the best preparation, sometimes water cannot be prevented from damaging Caldwell homes.

It seems somber to talk about what flood damage does to Caldwell homes, but sometimes understanding the risks makes it easier to prepare for them and decide on the best course of action. Flooding often seems to start slowly – you see there is much rain or the roads look very wet. Then before you know it water is seeping into your door and perhaps rising as high as your window.

SERVPRO recommends that in the event of flooding, you keep an eye on news outlets as much as you can so you can stay up to date on the latest developments and any official advice on what to do. It is also a good idea to move hard to replace valuables, including necessary paperwork, to the highest point of the house.

What many people do not realize is that they may be safer on the roof than inside their home. It is not easy to escape from a flooded attic or upper bedroom. If you are on the roof, rescue teams can see you.

It only takes a few inches of water to damage your home. Water seeps into wood and fabric, damaging the structure of your house and warping wooden door and window frames. Upholstered furniture, mattresses, drapes and carpets or rugs quickly wick up water and become water-logged. There is also a risk of mold growth in wet items. Electronic items do not usually fare well in floods.

Seeing the aftermath of a flood is upsetting. When the immediate crisis passes, put in a call to SERVPRO as soon as you can – We’re Faster To Any Size Disaster. Our IICRC-certified teams arrive ready to extract water from your home and dry water-logged furniture, carpets and structural elements to help make your home livable once more.
